We will enable our learners to develop the skills, confidence and attitudes to continually adapt, contribute and create in a changing world. Our children will be fulfilled, happy and able to build positive relationships, now and in the future.

 

The Vision in action

 

At FJS we believe in developing the whole child. Barriers to learning are acknowledged and overcome, ensuring equal opportunities and success for all. Our children are competent learners: inquisitive, critical, creative, evaluative and diverse thinkers, emotionally literate, self-aware and with empathy for others. They can work collaboratively and make links between their learning. They have the confidence to make decisions, the ability to plan their next steps and the resilience to face challenges and overcome mistakes.

 

The curriculum is exciting, varied and makes meaningful links across subjects. The curriculum reflects children’s interests and ambitions. Parents and carers are fully involved in the life of the school. We go beyond statutory requirements to equip children with key skills for the 21st century. We utilise the school grounds fully as a powerful learning resource and to develop a sense of awe and wonder of the natural world.

 

Our coaching culture enables adults and children to bring about positive changes and achieve greater success. Through developing philosophical skills, our children are able to question more deeply, and reflect upon their own ideas, actions and behaviour

 

Our children are active citizens with an understanding of rights, respect, responsibilities and tolerance, which enables them to have an impact within the school, local and global communities. They make informed choices enabling them to lead an active and healthy lifestyle. Our work on making FJS a sustainable school ensures our children take care of the environment. Through links with other schools and communities children have an increased awareness of diversity and are better able to celebrate and accept differences.
