The Fordingbridge Junior School Association is a group of friendly parents who meet once a term to organise fundraising events and activities. Often, these are centred around events that the school is holding, such as ‘Sports Day’ but also include selling ice creams in the summer, second hand uniform sales, fireworks night, quiz nights and the Winter Fayre. This provides valuable extra funds for the school where budgets continue to be cut. The fundraising really does benefit all the children with requests for funds coming directly from the teachers or from the School Council which is made up of pupil representatives from each year. Recent purchases have included new interactive Prometheus whiteboards, coach hire for school trips, buddy equipment, book bags, Easter treats and Christmas decorations. Requests for this term are prefect t-shirts, Ukulele lessons and new sound system which we really hope we can support.
We would really welcome the help of some more parents. Many hands make light work and it is a great way to get to know people and find out a bit more about what goes on at school. Involvement can be as little or as much as you like. For instance, putting your name down on the ice cream rota or selling refreshments at sports day. There are also more involved roles if this appeals and this year, we are looking for someone to manage our second-hand uniform sales. This is really well supported, giving parents the opportunity to buy good condition uniform at very affordable prices while raising funds for the school. The parent who currently runs this has enjoyed setting up her ‘shop’ once a term but is moving on in the summer and would like to hand it over.
If you think you might be able to spare some time to help with any of the above, or if you have any ideas or skills you would be willing to share, we would love to hear from you! You are welcome to come to our next meeting.
We are always looking for new ideas for events and fundraising activities, if you have any thoughts please let us know. You can leave a message with School Reception or email: email@example.com
Christmas Fayre Our next event is on Wednesday 5th December. 3pm - 6.pm
This is a whole school (Junior and Infants) community event and lots of help is needed to run it. The help will be in small, shifts so you are still able to enjoy the event with your family. It often works well if you are able to team up with a friend, especially to run a stall. Help will be needed in
-Labelling jolly jars and tombola prizes before the day
-Setting up on the day
Date of next meeting: 14th January 2019
Make it a news resolution and come and join us at the Crown, Fordingbridge High Street on 14th January, 7pm
Nearly New Uniform
The Nearly New Uniform sales not only raises funds, but provides a useful service to parents and enables good quality uniform to be recycled.
Buying uniform: Uniform is sold on approximately two dates every half term. Dates are published on the school notice board and via school newsletters.
Donating Uniform: If you have any uniform in a reusable condition please hand it into the school office (preferably labelled “FJSA uniform” - so it does not end up in lost property!
We will gladly receive school uniform, PE kit (incl plimsolls) dancewear (incl dance shoes) and brownie/cub uniform but not school shoes at this time (due to storage).
Please help this recycling effort and send all your old uniform in as soon as possible!
FJSA organises textile collections with Bag2School in order to raise vitally needed funds and to also help the environment by aiding to divert unwanted textiles away from landfill.
By getting involved in our collection, you have an opportunity to sort through your cupboards and wardrobes and donate unwanted textiles in the bag provided. Please fill the bag with unwanted children’s clothes, adult clothes, curtains, duvet covers, towels, shoes (tied together), handbags etc. etc. (not duvets or pillows).
Please note school uniform with logos on, bedding, curtains, and other household linen cannot be accepted.
In addition to funds raised for the school, it will also raise awareness amongst the children of the benefits of recycling and reuse.
Please look at the school newsletter for details of the next collection date. Please help us raise as much as possible via this scheme. You do not have to wait until the bags are issued. Fill any bag or box with wrapped bric-a-brac and bring it along to the school office at any time. We already have donations stored until collection day. Do not forget to ask grandparents, friends and neighbours to have a sort out as well!
