PSHE at FJS
At Fordingbridge Junior School our PSHEE (Personal Social Health and Economic Education) curriculum provides our children with the knowledge, skills and understanding they need to become confident, healthy and independent global citizens with a clear understanding of the importance of both physical and emotional well-being.
PSHEE is embedded throughout our curriculum to give depth to the children’s understanding and allow them to experience the subject in a range of contexts, including real life contexts. Through our PSHEE lessons, both embedded and discreet, our children deeply explore their emotional health and well-being, develop financial awareness, learn about British values and citizenship, bullying (including cyber bullying), sex and relationships education (SRE) and drug, tobacco and alcohol education.
We recognise the value of our community in developing the children’s knowledge, skills and understanding of PSHEE and plan opportunities for the children to meet with and question various members of our community.
At FJS our PSHEE curriculum is enriched and enhanced throughout the year through residential trips (years 4, 5 and 6), school visits, lunchtime and after-school clubs and other events including whole school Carol Service, safety day activities, disability workshops and charity days (e.g. Children in Need).
For those children who need extra support with regard to their personal and social development we have Explorers (nurture group) and an ELSA Team to ensure that all our pupils can develop and thrive.
